Oleander Girl

Chitra Divakaruni is the bestselling author of One Amazing Thing and The Mistress of Spices (also made into a feature film). In her new novel, Oleander Girl, headstrong Korobi Roy, raised in a crumbling old mansion in Kolkata with her grandparents, desires to learn more about the parents she never knew and to find a love as powerful as theirs. But Korobiis jolted by a secret that her grandparents kept from her all these years. Oleander Girl (in stores on March 19th) is a story about transformation, family, love, and – above all – discovery.

An excerpt from the novel can be found here:

I first came to know about Chitra Divakaruni after reading her magical novelThe Palace of Illusions. It was a novel that I read compulsively and enjoyed tremendously. After learning from her publishers (and having been asked by them to preview the novel) that Divakaruni had a new novel for release, I could not wait to read the excerpt, as well as hear her talk about it. From the excerpt, I am very much looking forward to reading the novel in its entirety. Divakaruni’s  use of language and storytelling is compelling. I can foresee this novel being a favourite among book clubs.
